Scarves!!

I am to design my own line of Scarves in the near future. Currently, I am learning the basics of stitching and what better person to learn it from then your own Mother. With this came the stories of when mom used to design and sew because she couldn't afford to buy clothes. She was explaining to me the importance of young women in the late 70s and early 80s knowing the art of stitching. Without any choice, mom used to sew dresses after dresses, vibrant skirts, and edgy blouses to keep up with the fashion trends.

I, on the other hand, have the luxury to purchase whatever outfit I please, at any store of choice and at any price (at least most of the time). Except I took upon me to learn this tedious, most intricate task of designing, stitching, even learning to use all the crazy tools (I HATE SEWING MACHINES!!) This is a challenge worthy enough to win and a skill worthy enough of gain. Let's just hope I manage to stitch something whether it’s wearable or not.

Relax, Rejuvenate and Play!

This coming weekend I will be in Palm Springs/Indian Wells to watch BNP Paribas Tennis Open, to indulge my eyes with some brilliant landscapes, majestic waterfalls and vintage yet sophisticated architectures and maybe, just maybe, get to meet some Hollywood celebrities as most of them take refuge there.

I hope to enjoy the sun, watch my man Roger play, catch up on some sight-seeing, get a lesson on Indian, Mexican and Western cultural heritage, hope to strike it lucky and ofcourse lots and lots of shopping!!

My Primary goals involve:
1. Meeting Roger Federer(OH PLEASE GOD!!!!)
2. Shopping till I drop(Relaxation baby!!)
3. Going on a sight-seeing tour(This is a must-do)
4. Winning Big(Hey, you just never know!!!)

As this is my first visit to Palm Springs, I am truly psyched! I just hope it lives up to its name as "America's Desert Playground".

Shutter Island

Shutter Island is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing till the end. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Teddy who suffers from a severe case of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

Scorsese has done it again…a true genius indeed!! With a right mix of suspense and horror, the movie torments its lead character. A creepy setting; a prison hospital for the criminally insane located on the distant island during the rampant storm definitely kept me on the alert.

A star strutted cast of Kingsley and Von Sydow together with Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer, Ted Levine, etc who play insane inmate characters, brusque guards, malicious nurses and crazy doctors definitely add fuel to the fire!

As his 45th film, Scorsese has created a Masterpiece that messes with your head and is fun at the same time-his best work since “Cape Fear”. I give Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” 4.5/5 stars. And to all you movie goers who haven’t watched this movie yet, prepare to get your minds messed with…IT’S MIND-BOGGLING GOOD!!!!!

My Name Is Khan...What I thought of it!!!!!!

The first half wasn't as good as the second half.

It was a really good movie.  A bold move for Mr. Johar.  After all, King Khan was in the movie, it had to be good!!  I'm really glad Mr. Johar attacked this topic.  He is definitely one of the bravest directors...GO JOHAR!!!!!!!!!!

It was sometimes a bit korny, but that's the Johar way.  I did miss some mast masala though. Overall, i would give the movie 4/5 stars.

So guys, please do see MNIK because not only is it going to touch your soul  but will bring you to the realization that Courage, Perseverance and Love can help a person reach milestones and unite a nation!
